## Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha Elections 2024: A Worrying Trend of Voter Apathy and Illiteracy

Despite the crucial role played by election officials in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, a concerning trend has emerged. Data suggests that a staggering 30% of these officials are not even exercising their right to vote. Adding to this worrying statistic is the fact that a significant number of those who do intend to vote are struggling with the basic process of casting their ballot correctly.

This revelation raises serious concerns about the state of voter awareness and participation in the upcoming elections. It highlights the need for urgent and effective measures to address voter apathy and improve literacy levels, particularly among those directly involved in the electoral process.

## Chhattisgarh Election 2024: 40% of Government Employees Don’t Know How to Vote

A concerning revelation has emerged regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh. Analysis of postal ballots cast by government employees during the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections has shown that a staggering 40% of these employees are unable to cast their votes correctly.
While a general 30% of employees do not vote at all, the issue lies with those who do attempt to vote but lack the knowledge to do so correctly.

**Postal Ballot System for Government Employees**
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, a postal ballot system was introduced for government employees and officials on duty. A specific timeframe is allotted for these employees to cast their votes via postal ballot.
The process involves a designated postal ballot station set up at the district headquarters, where employees can vote using the provided postal ballots.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections saw the introduction of “service voters” – a category for employees who are serving in the armed forces, stationed outside their constituencies, or working abroad. These employees are also provided with the facility to cast their votes through the service voter system.
Despite these facilities, the analysis of the past two Lok Sabha elections reveals that 40% of the employees who attempted to vote via postal ballots or as service voters were unable to cast their votes correctly, leading to their votes being rejected.
**Training Provided, Yet Issues Remain**

Election officials provide training to employees on how to cast their votes via postal ballots and how to register and vote as service voters. However, despite this training, a significant number of employees are still unable to cast their votes correctly.
This situation raises serious concerns about the electoral process in Chhattisgarh and highlights the need for more effective voter education and awareness programs, particularly for government employees.
