A blood component separation unit and sonography machines, acquired by the hospital long ago, remain unused and gathering dust in storage. The lack of functional sonography machines forces patients to wait for days or rely on private labs. Only one sonography machine is operational, making it difficult to cater to the daily influx of 400-500 patients. This single machine is used for six hours a day.
**The Only Excuse: Lack of Radiologist** Despite orders from the then District Collector, Lakshman Singh Kudi, the hospital administration has not yet installed the sonography machines. During an inspection, Kudi had instructed the administration to hire a radiologist on contract. However, no tender has been issued in this regard.
**Blood Separation Unit Gathering Dust** The blood component separation unit, purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees, is gathering dust in the blood bank’s store. The unit requires a centrifuge machine and a technical supervisor, both of which are absent. This has prevented the machine from being operational. Due to the non-functional unit, critical patients are forced to seek treatment at private hospitals in the city or even in Jaipur, adding to their financial burden.
**Blood Separation Unit Crucial for Certain Diseases** In diseases like dengue, where platelet counts are low, patients require plasma. The blood separation unit machine can extract platelets from a blood donor’s blood and return the blood to their body through a bleeding set. However, despite having the machine, patients at the BDK hospital are not benefiting from it.
