<p><strong>Pahalgam Terror Attack:</strong> At Forest View Residency in Model Town, Jaipur, eyes welled up, flats were dark, and people waited on the balcony for the arrival of Neeraj Udhawani&#8217;s mortal remains. The silence that descended upon the residency on Wednesday evening perhaps suppressed the anger of the people. When Neeraj Udhawani&#8217;s body, a victim of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, arrived outside Forest View Residency, tears flowed from people&#8217;s eyes, and their anger erupted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Climate of Terror in the Country – Pallavi Kaur&#8217;s Question</h2>



<p>Wiping away her tears, local resident Pallavi Kaur said, &#8220;There is a climate of terror in the country; where are people safe?&#8221; Meanwhile, people were seen expressing their anger, shouting slogans like, &#8220;Do justice… do justice, eliminate terrorism… Neeraj bhai amar rahe, amar rahe…&#8221; (Long live Neeraj brother, long live Neeraj brother). At 8:50 PM, amidst police security, Neeraj&#8217;s body reached Forest View Residency. The police immediately escorted it inside and closed the main gate of the residency.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Neeraj&#8217;s Last Rites to be Performed Today</h2>



<p>Meanwhile, Minister of State for Soldiers&#8217; Welfare, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, also arrived and went straight to the residency. His wife Ayushi, elder brother Kishor, and sister-in-law Shubhi also arrived with the body. Neeraj&#8217;s body will be taken to Mokshdham in Jhalana at 9 AM on Thursday for the last rites.</p>



<p>Earlier, at 7 PM, barricades were erected on the sleep lane of the main road, blocking the movement of people. A police contingent was deployed at the main gate of the residency. People coming from outside were prevented from entering the residency. People were coming and going, meeting each other, but silence prevailed. People said that food was not cooked in many houses today.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tributes Paid at the Airport</h2>



<p>Neeraj&#8217;s body was brought to Jaipur from Delhi at 8:15 PM on Wednesday on an IndiGo Airlines flight. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also arrived in Jaipur on the same flight. There, Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister Jogaram Patel, MP Manju Sharma, PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra, MLAs Kailash Verma, Rafiq Khan, Ramkesh Meena, Ajaypal Singh, and many other public representatives paid their tributes.</p>

<p><strong>Pahalgam Terror Attack:</strong> Fear and anger have gripped people across India, including Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur, who were planning to visit the Kashmir Valley. Consequently, a large number of people are cancelling their Kashmir tours. In Indore alone, a flurry of cancellations began Wednesday morning. Travel agent Mahendra Singh stated that his company, which holds a franchise for a major national company, had booked three large Kashmir tours from Indore this month. Two groups from Nagpur, comprising 10 and 16 members respectively, have cancelled their packages.</p>



<p>Akshay Goyal cancelled a Kashmir tour package for 15 people. Tourists from Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior also cancelled their packages.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Livelihood Crisis in the Valley</strong></h2>



<p>Faiyaz Ahmad, who oversees tourism operations for Mahendra Singh’s company in Srinagar, reported that the incident has deeply disturbed locals. Targeting tourists will severely impact tourism in the valley. Tourism is the backbone of Kashmir&#8217;s economy. Hotels, resorts, transport, and other businesses typically earn enough in the four summer months to sustain themselves for the entire year. Now, their livelihoods are at risk.</p>

PM Modi Announces Five Key Decisions After Pahalgam Attack


<p><strong>Pahalgam Attack:</strong> A major terrorist attack occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The attack resulted in the death of 28 people. Following the Pahalgam incident, a CCS meeting was held at PM Modi&#8217;s residence. After this meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs held a press conference. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India is withdrawing from the Indus Waters Treaty and the Pakistan High Commission in India is being closed. All Pakistanis present in India have been asked to leave the country within the next 48 hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Information Provided About the Attack</h2>



<p>Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press conference, stated that a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was held under the chairmanship of PM Modi. The CCS was briefed in detail about the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam on Tuesday. The CCS strongly condemned the attack and expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.</p>



<p>Understanding the gravity of this terrorist attack, the CCS took the following decisions:</p>



<p>1. The 1960 Indus Waters Treaty will be suspended with immediate effect until Pakistan reliably and irrevocably abandons its support for cross-border terrorism.</p>



<p>2. The Integrated Check Post Attari will be closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed the border with valid approvals can return via that route before May 1, 2025.</p>



<p>3. Pakistani citizens will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visa. Any SVES visas issued to Pakistani citizens in the past will be considered cancelled. Any Pakistani citizen present in India under an SVES visa has 48 hours to leave the country.</p>



<p>4. The Defence/Military, Naval and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared Persona Non Grata. They have one week to leave India. India will be withdrawing its own Defence/Navy/Air Advisors from the High Commission in Islamabad. These positions in the respective High Commissions will be considered abolished. Five support staff of the service advisors from both High Commissions will also be withdrawn.</p>



<p>5. The total number of High Commission staff will be reduced from the current 55 to 30, to be achieved through further reductions by May 1, 2025.</p>

<p>Following the Pahalgam attack, the central government has decided to call an all-party meeting on Thursday, chaired by PM Modi. This meeting will be held in the Parliament Annex.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Response from Pakistan</h2>



<p>Following the Pahalgam attack and India&#8217;s first strike against Pakistan, former Pakistani Minister Chaudhry Fawad responded. Regarding the holding of the Indus Waters Treaty, he stated that India cannot do so under international law.</p>

<p>The CCS reviewed the overall security situation and instructed all forces to maintain high alert. A resolution was taken to bring the perpetrators of this attack to justice and hold their sponsors accountable. Similar to the recent extradition of Tahwwur Rana, India will continue its efforts to find those who have committed or conspired to enable terrorist acts.</p>

Summer Camps Suspended During School Holidays in Raipur


<p>School Holiday: Government schools in the capital city will no longer hold summer camps during the summer break. The Raipur District Education Officer (DEO) has suspended its previously issued instructions after facing opposition to the order.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Holiday: Request to DEO for Cancellation</h2>



<p>Earlier, the District Education Office had issued instructions for all government schools in Raipur to hold summer classes from 1 May to 15 June during the summer break. However, the Chhattisgarh Teachers&#8217; Association strongly opposed this instruction and requested the DEO to cancel it.</p>



<p>Following this, on 21 April, the District Education Officer suspended the instructions to hold summer classes and issued an order in this regard.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Demand to be Exempted from Duties</h2>



<p>School Holiday: The Chhattisgarh Teacher Association has demanded from the Education Department that teachers in the state should not be assigned any other work or departmental duties from 1 May to 15 June, so that teachers can better perform their educational work and fulfil their family and social responsibilities.</p>

JEE Advanced 2025 Applications Starts Open: ₹3200 Fee for General Category


<p><strong>JEE Advanced Registration Starts:</strong> The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has commenced the application process for JEE Advanced 2025 from 23 April. Candidates who have successfully cleared the JEE Main 2025 examination can now register online through the official JEE Advanced website, <a href="https://jeeadv.ac.in" target="_blank" rel="noopener">jeeadv.ac.in</a>.</p>



<p>The last date for submitting applications is 2 May 2025, while the fee payment deadline is 5 May 2025.</p>

<p>The application fee for general category candidates is ₹3,200. For female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the fee is ₹1,600. It is important to note that the fee once paid is neither refundable nor transferable.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> Technology, when used correctly, can prove to be invaluable in life. This was proven by 23-year-old visually impaired Manu Garg from Jaipur, who secured 91st rank in the UPSC final results. Manu Garg, a resident of Shastri Nagar, cleared the UPSC exam without knowing Braille. Manu says he doesn&#8217;t know Braille, but he used technology to clear the UPSC exam.</p>



<p>He explained that technology has become very advanced. He studied using software that read aloud to him. He prepared for the exam with the help of this technology. Manu said that he lost his eyesight in the ninth grade. After that, his mother gave him courage. His mother became the light of his eyes and propelled him forward.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Success in the second attempt</h2>



<p>Manu said that he achieved success in his second attempt. He failed in his first attempt, but this motivated him. He said that when he was four years old, he first heard the name IAS. From then on, he decided to clear the UPSC exam. After becoming an IAS officer, I can uplift society and also develop my personality. Whenever I felt discouraged, my family encouraged me.</p>



<p>Manu said that during his preparation, he didn&#8217;t track how many hours he studied. He would only get up after completing a topic, regardless of whether it took him until 2 am.</p>



<p>Manu is pursuing a PhD from JNU.</p>

<p>Ratlam: The installation of Kavach 4.0, a modern safety system for Indian Railways, is underway, promising safer train travel by the end of this year. Installation on the crucial Delhi-Mumbai rail route, connecting the nation&#8217;s capital to its financial hub, is in its final stages. The railway has set a deadline of 25 December 2025 to complete Kavach installation on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah rail routes. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally inspected trials of Kavach 4.0 on these routes. This will enable trains to run at speeds of 160 kmph between Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah from January 2026.</p>



<p>In the Ratlam, Vadodara, and Mumbai railway divisions of Western Railway, loco trials have been successfully conducted after the installation of Kavach 4.0 across 405 km out of a total of 789 km. Sixty locos in Western Railway have been equipped with this technology. According to the railway&#8217;s deadline, this 1385-kilometre rail route will be equipped with Kavach&#8217;s safety features by the end of this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Speed, Reduced Accidents</h2>



<p>According to senior railway officials, the fully indigenous Kavach 4.0 safety system has the capability to prevent train collisions and enhance safety. This technology will not only help prevent rail accidents but will also prove effective in increasing train speeds and preventing signal passing at danger situations. A key feature of Kavach is its ability to detect and prevent head-on, rear-end, and side collisions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Assistance for Loco Pilots</h2>



<p>This system will also assist loco pilots in operating trains even in foggy and low-visibility conditions. Installation work is progressing rapidly on two important rail routes in the country. Initially, the railway had set a deadline of March 2025, but this has now been extended to 25 December 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trains to Run at 160 kmph</h2>



<p>By the end of this year, passengers on the Delhi-Mumbai rail route will be able to travel comfortably and quickly under the safety of Kavach 4.0. Under Mission Raftaar, passenger trains on this route will also be able to run at a speed of 160 kilometres per hour.</p>

<p><strong>SSC GD Constable Vacancy 2025:</strong> The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will now fill a total of 53,690 positions under the GD Constable recruitment 2025. This is an increase of 14,209 positions from the initial figure of 39,481, based on revised details received from various security forces. The recruitment process will fill Constable (GD), Rifleman, and Sepoy positions in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Assam Rifles, Special Security Force (SSF), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">SSC GD Constable Total Seats: Increase in Male, Female, and Category-wise Vacancies</h2>



<p>Initially, 35,612 positions were allocated for men and 3,869 for women. These numbers have now increased to 48,320 and 5,370, respectively. The highest increase of 9,426 positions was recorded in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) alone, where there are now a total of 16,571 vacancies, compared to 7,145 at the time applications opened.</p>

After the results are released, selected candidates will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), medical tests, and document verification. All information will be available on the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in.</p>
